Frequently Asked Questions

How is LUMINEERS™ BY CERINATE® different than traditional veneer procedures?

LUMINEERS™ is unique in that it is like a thin shell and super translucent. These veneers are applied to teeth that may be recontoured for the most natural look possible. Traditional veneers usually involve necessary tooth reduction to achieve specific cosmetic goals agreed by you and your dentist. Since LUMINEERS are so thin, little to no tooth reduction is necessary. Both Lumineers and traditional veneers are fused or bonded to teeth to restore and strengthen the teeth.

How long will it take to change my smile?

The first appointment is usually a consultation. At that time, we will often take study models, photographs and a detailed record of your teeth to plan and customize your treatment.

The second appointment will involve making impressions (molds) of your teeth in which your LUMINEERS will be designed on.

The third appointment is the placement of your new custom LUMINEERS.
The total time is approximately three weeks.

I’ve heard that a veneer procedure hurts? Is that true with LUMINEERS?

Since most traditional veneer procedures require a substantial amount of painful tooth structure removal, some discomfort may occur; however, it depends on each individual. LUMINEERS is completely different because there is no need for grinding, cutting or filing of teeth in almost all cases. Consequently, no anesthetic or numbing shots are needed. Plus, no uncomfortable temps are required while you wait for your LUMINEERS to be created. Once the procedure is completed, there is no post-placement discomfort or sensitivity, which means they will look natural and feel comfortable from the start.

I think I need braces, but I really don't want to go through the inconvenient, unsightly and time-intensive process. Can I get LUMINEERS instead?

Yes. LUMINEERS can change the shape and alignment of teeth, making them look straighter and more uniform.

How long will LUMINEERS last?

LUMINEERS™ porcelain veneers has unparalleled longevity. Clinical testing has proven that this revolutionary procedure lasts, looks great and is extremely durable.

With LUMINEERS, do I need to use a special toothpaste or floss a different way?

LUMINEERS is similar in structure to real tooth enamel. Consequently, you can continue to brush with your favorite toothpaste and floss regularly as you did before you had LUMINEERS. You should always try to choose a low-abrasion toothpaste that will remove plaque, stain and tartar gently, but effectively.

With LUMINEERS, can I still chew gum and eat my favorite sticky foods like corn or candy?

Yes, because LUMINEERS is laid over original teeth in the most durable way possible. However, you should continue routine visits to your dentist.

How much do LUMINEERS cost?

Each patient varies depending on the individual case and what treatment options are best for you. We typically charge from $800 to $1200. We offer patient financing and LUMINEERS comes with a 5-year warranty. That is why we encourage you to come in for a free consultation for LUMINEERS.

Does insurance cover LUMINEERS?

Unfortunately, the answer is usually no.  However, sometimes they may allow benefits based on the need to strengthen the tooth. As a courtesy, we will be glad to submit to your carrier for reimbursement, but you must assume that they will not pay.

How many LUMINEERS™ veneers should I have? How do I decide what is best for my smile?

The only way to know is to schedule a free consultation in our office so we can examine your mouth. Once we have completed an evaluation, we can inform you of your options and develop a treatment plan for you.
